History of the Miami Grand Prix
Introduced in 2022, the race reflects the sport’s growing popularity in the United States and its efforts to reach new audiences.
The Miami Grand Prix has never been won from pole position, with Max Verstappen clinching the win in 2022 and 2023 and Lando Norris claiming his first ever win in 2024.
2025 saw McLaren dominate the event, with Lando Norris taking the sprint race victory and team-mate Oscar Piastri winning the main race.
The 2026 Miami Grand Prix
The 2026 Miami Grand Prix weekend will take place between Friday, May 1, and Sunday, May 3.
Once again, the sprint race will be a feature of the event.
The format and track timings for the weekend are:
Free practice – Friday at 12:30 ET
Sprint qualifying – Friday at 16:30 ET
Sprint race – Saturday at 12:00 ET
Qualifying – Saturday at 16:00 ET
Race – Sunday at 16:00 ET
The race can be viewed via Apple TV in the United States.
The circuit
The race takes place at the Miami International Autodrome, a temporary circuit built around the famous Hard Rock Stadium.
The circuit is over five kilometres and features 19 corners and three straights with track elevation changes as well.
With top speeds of up to 320 km/h and close walls, the varied sections test drivers’ speed and precision while also creating opportunities for overtaking throughout the lap.
