Inter Miami news: Lionel Messi’s club secures landmark naming rights deal For new stadium

Inter Miami’s ambitious stadium project has taken a major step forward after the club confirmed a high-profile naming rights partnership ahead of its long-awaited move into a permanent home.

The Major League Soccer franchise, led on the field by global superstar Lionel Messi, announced a multiyear agreement with Brazilian financial technology company Nu, under which the team’s new venue will be officially named ‘Nu Stadium’ when it opens next month.

The agreement represents one of the most significant commercial deals in the club’s short history and highlights the growing global appeal of the Miami-based side.

New home set to open in April

Nu Stadium is part of the massive Miami Freedom Park development located near Miami International Airport. The soccer-specific venue will hold approximately 26,700 spectators and serve as Inter Miami’s permanent home after several seasons at their temporary base in Fort Lauderdale.

The stadium is scheduled to officially debut on April 4, 2026, when Inter Miami hosts Austin FC in its inaugural match at the new ground.

Beyond MLS matches, the stadium is expected to host concerts, international soccer events, and other large spectator events throughout the year.

Major step in Inter Miami’s long-term vision

The new stadium sits at the centre of a broader multi-billion-dollar project designed to transform the surrounding area into a sports and entertainment hub.

Plans for Miami Freedom Park include public parks, retail spaces, restaurants, and community areas alongside the stadium itself, creating a destination that will operate year-round rather than solely on matchdays.

For club owners, including former England star David Beckham, the project represents the culmination of years of planning to give the young franchise a world-class home.

Messi effect continues to drive growth

Since Lionel Messi joined the club in 2023, Inter Miami’s commercial value and international visibility have skyrocketed.

The Argentine icon’s presence has helped the franchise attract global sponsors and expand its fanbase worldwide, making the club one of the most marketable teams in Major League Soccer.

The naming rights partnership with Nu is the latest example of that surge in commercial momentum as the club prepares to enter a new era in its purpose-built stadium.
