The “Sunshine City" is the perfect beach city with its many aquatic attractions.
With a large Hispanic influence, a pattern in most of Florida, there are a variety of destinations to explore.
Here, Florida News Blitz explores seven of the best things to do and see in St. Petersburg.
Salvador Dali Museum
Home to Salvador Dali’s biggest collection outside of Spain, the Salvador Dali Museum is the heart of St. Petersburg’s cultural renaissance.
With a stunning geometric exterior, the interior combines the artist’s iconic melting clocks with modern visual illusions of his many works.
Fort De Soto Park
This beachside park covers five islands and 1,136 acres on the Gulf and Tampa Bay, with many attractions to boast.
These include kayaking, visiting a Spanish-American War-era fort, lounging on the beach, fishing, snorkelling and many more.
Annex 400 Beach
This cafe, with its yellow and white striped umbrellas outside, serves delicious dishes throughout the day.
Stop by for a quick bite inside, admire its walls decorated with artwork from local artists, or get an ice-cold drink to help with the humidity.

Watch the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg
The “Sunshine City" hosts the first IndyCar race of the 2025 season, the North American racing series known for its iconic Indy 500 every May.
Make sure to get tickets for the Grand Prix on the 2nd of March (with prices starting from $105) as there is a week-long festival-like atmosphere in the paddock with a fan village, beer gardens, driver autograph sessions as well as numerous interactive games and exhibits.
St. Pete Pier
The pier hosts several structures, such as a five-story inverted pyramid-shaped building, five restaurants, a local market, a playground, an environmental education centre and numerous artworks.
You can walk along the pier, enjoy the sea breeze, buy from local vendors or sit down for a bite and admire the beautiful blue ocean.
Downtown St. Petersburg
You will be right in the action as the race track incorporates streets of downtown St. Petersburg with a section of Albert Whitted Airport’s runway.
This walkable part of the city allows you to explore the bustling area and meet fellow IndyCar fans, making the whole atmosphere feel even more special.
Stillwaters Tavern
The Stillwaters Tavern serves tasty American food from both land and sea, as well as an impressive beer collection as evidence of its namesake.
With a stunning view of St. Pete Pier, enjoy some hearty and rich food from burgers to chicken wings to a sausage board to anything fried.
Summary
In St. Petersburg, the downtown area has so many wonderful sites, so much so, that it's hard to explore the vibrant area in a day.
So pack your sunscreen and bring your swimsuit to combine your love of sports with the near-limitless aquatic attractions.
